Cleanwashing of the Week: David Bars

CLEANWASHINGnoun:
When a product is labeled “clean,” “natural,” or “healthy” to feel wellness-friendly, but is actually packed with low-quality, ultra-processed, or gut-disrupting ingredients.

Let’s talk about David Protein Bars.

You’ve probably seen them hyped by people you trust—Dr. Peter Attia, Andrew Huberman, etc.
And on the surface? They look clean. Chic branding. Slick messaging. Science-forward.

But flip the label.

Here’s what you’ll actually find inside:

🚫 Artificial flavors – (In 2025?! Seriously.)
🚫 Gut-disrupting sugar alcohols – Hello, bloat and blood sugar chaos.
🚫 Highly processed protein blends – Fractionated, bleached, denatured. No thanks.
🚫 GMO soy – Not all soy is evil, but this one isn’t doing you any favors.
🚫 Lab-altered fat from canola oil – Engineered to be “indigestible.” That’s not a flex.

And the tagline on their homepage? “Humans aren’t perfect. David is.”

Be serious. 🙄

This is cleanwashing. And this is exactly what we don’t do at Deliciously Market.

Every product we carry—whether it’s a protein bar, a parfait, or a cracker—is made to nourish your body, not just impress your Instagram feed.

We’re not in the hype game. We’re in the health game. Because “clean” doesn’t mean anything if the ingredients are trash.
